This term often evokes many differing emotions for people. For some, there is a connection to love and support while others are reminded of painful loss or rejection. ⁣ ⁣ From the time I was young, I longed for the attention and affirmation of my father, who at that time, was not active in my life. This distance prompted many questions in my heart, as I sought to find my role as a beloved daughter despite the absence of loving words. I saw a “father” as a distant authority, easily angered, inattentive & unaware. ⁣ ⁣ During this time, I began to learn the contrasting character of my Heavenly Father. He asked to be invited into my heart, He was slow to anger and spoke words of value & love to my longing soul.⁣ ⁣ I look back at this first chapter of life and thank God for His Fatherly presence in my story, as I am fully aware of how He has held my heart with His gentle & steadfast love!⁣ ⁣ God loves you⁣ God sees you ⁣ God hears you & ⁣ God calls you His own child! ⁣ ⁣ We can often look at our childhood wounds & wonder why we could not have a different story... yet in retelling this tale, I am reminded that my earthly father was never meant to take the place of God’s perfect grace. I John 3 reminds us that we are lavishly loved & have a heavenly belonging as one of God’s children!⁣
